We would like to invite you to join us for a public information evening regarding the planning process for Liam’s Lodge which will take place on Friday the 11th April from 6-9pm in the Fels Point Hotel, Tralee. A presentation will be given by Tony Heffernan, CEO of the Saoirse Foundation and David Moriarty of David Moriarty and Associates Architects.

Liams Lodge will be Ireland’s dedicated first National Respite & Training Centre for genetic and rare disorders and will be located on a 10 acre green field site in Blennerville,Tralee, Co. Kerry.  When fully built the centre will create in excess of 40 new jobs in Kerry, and Liam’s Lodge will provide respite to over 1500 families a year, bringing much needed support for families and a significant economic boost to Tralee and the surrounding areas.

At the information evening the final design plans for Liam’s Lodge will be on show and David Moriarty from David Moriarty and Associates Architects will also be there to discuss with key milestones for the project. The design includes a flexible build process, allowing the facility to be built in two or three phases, which is dependent on funding, however the charity would prefer a single phase build. Planning for Liams Lodge will be lodged with Kerry County Council

As well as being Ireland’s first national respite centre for children suffering from genetic and rare disorders, Liam’s Lodge will also be a world class training and education centre offering fully accredited training courses in genetic and rare diseases. The Saoirse Foundation has partnered with Trinity College and University College Dublin as well as the third level institutions in Munster to develop and deliver the accredited on-site training for medical students and care professionals.  Liams Lodge will also provide training to families and care providers as well as continued professional training to nurses, doctors and other medical professionals.

This is a really exciting project and a much needed facility for the South & West of Ireland. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to the public information evening on the 11th April.
